The high mountains are calling

This summer brings a new challenge: the Pyrenees coast to coast, 21 to 29 June 2024.

Well, sort of. Starting at Bayonne and picking up some of the well-known mountains and a few less popular ones.  At 700 km and 8,000 m in eight days it's my biggest challenge attempted.

As well as the sheer volume of climbing with 8 kg of gear, the altitude and weather conditions, plus some complicated logistics to get south are also uncertainties.

The usual 10 week training programme has suffered from weather and two bouts of illness. But on the positive side I have made use of rollers for a more scientific approach to intensity training when I could.

So, plenty of learning and new experiences in prospect!
